HENDRICK S. CROWELL II

Sacramento Criminal Lawyer

Hendrick Crowell, II, is a child of God. This may seem odd being in the field of criminal defense, but Mr. Crowell is at home in the field of criminal justice, and it has been his passion even before law school, as an undergraduate in Criminal Justice at CSU, Sacramento. Even before college, he worked in the office with his parents, who also specialize in the field of criminal defense and personal injury. Mr. Crowell follows the teaching of the apostle Paul in Colossians 3:23-24 which states: "Whatever you do, work at it with all your heart, as working for the Lord, not for men, since you know that you will receive an inheritance from the Lord as a reward. It is the Lord Christ you are serving." Mr. Crowell's complete faith in God translates into high ethical standards, which do not go unnoticed by district attorneys and judges.

Mr. Crowell understands that our American system of justice is usually fair, but oftentimes is stacked against the little guy. The law affords a person charged with a criminal offense the right to choose his own legal counsel (according to his means), and this system of justice allows that counsel to fight to protect the rights of the accused, subject to certain ethical boundaries. Mr. Crowell takes pleasure in working for the little guy, the person who may be a first offender worthy of a second chance; or the person who may have made a mistake but will suffer inordinately if mercy is not shown (loss of job, home, etc); or in certain cases, the person who is being railroaded by the district attorney to take an unfair deal. Recently Mr. Crowell saved a county supervisor's job of 16 years, by obtaining an order from the judge in the case declaring the defendant not guilty. This first offender was able to continue at his job, afford his kids' tuition, and go on with his life without being devastated by a conviction. There are many examples of these excellent results on google.com, and Mr. Crowell is proud to be listed among the prominent, skilled attorneys working on behalf of the little guy.

Mr. Crowell attended McGeorge School of Law in Sacramento, where he received an award for "Excellence in Oral Advocacy", and after law school took and passed the bar on his first attempt. He immediately opened his own practice and has either been a solo practitioner or working with his law partner Dionne Choyce ever since. Early in his career he had immense success in the field of personal injury obtaining several million plus settlements ($1,750,000 auto accident; $1,000,000 auto accident; $275,000 dog attack; $100,000 auto accident). Then he began his focus in the field of criminal defense, and has been at home in the courtroom ever since. Mr. Crowell has become quite the specialist over the years, having successfully handled hundreds of trials (i.e. not guilty verdict or dismissal of charges), and further honed his skills attending every seminar he can fit into his schedule. He is also regularly asked to speak at criminal defense seminars statewide. Mr. Crowell has gained the respect of his colleagues, and also of the district attorneys and judges, who regularly refer business to him. Mr. Crowell feels honored to receive the ultimate compliment from his adversaries- case referrals.

In his spare time, Mr. Crowell loves attending church at his church home, Center of Praise Ministries (Pastor Parnell Lovelace), in midtown Sacramento. He also attends weekly bible study on Thursday evenings. He also enjoys electronic music, snowboarding, wakeboarding, and watching criminal justice shows like 48 Hours Mystery, Dateline, etc. He has two chihuahuas for now, and someday will have a big family of his own, Lord willing.

Mr. Crowell is a member of many associations and organizations including the Association of Trial Lawyers of America, Sacramento Consumer Attorneys, Consumer Attorneys of California, California Public Defenders Association, American Bar Association, Solano County Bar Association, Sacramento County Bar Association, and Yolo County Bar Association. Further, he is admitted to practice in State court as well as the local United States District Court (Federal Court).
